Beverly Nguyen’s 8 Big Beauty Obsessions | Westman Atelier (2025)

Beverly Nguyen is going places, literally. Last week, the 34-year-old stylist, editor and merchant was in Milan for Salone del Mobile. Before that, she was on the beach in Miami, in Paris for fashion week, and back in New York, where she lives and runs her home goods store, Beverly 1975. Her proclivity to get up and go is a big reason her beauty routine is so minimal: wet hair, bare nails, a swipe of Squeaky Clean Lip Balm in Garçonne. “I really like being able to jump in the water at any moment, run to something at any moment, unbox a new package that’s just come into the store,” she says. “I have no time for touch-ups.”

Nguyen grew up “barefoot on the beach” in Southern California, where her Vietnamese parents ran their fashion merchandising business. “They took how you presented yourself very seriously,” she says. The summer before her senior year at Academy of Art University in San Francisco, she flew to New York to interview for a fashion internship at Lucky Magazine, but instead landed a role in the beauty closet at Vogue. “Beauty is my beginning!” she says of her first job organizing products—from makeup and skincare to body scrubs, brushes, and tools.

Soon after, Nguyen became a makeup artist for Opening Ceremony (“my first subject was Chloë Sevigny—I didn’t tell her I had never done makeup before,” she says), and then a stylist’s assistant who traveled the world working with celebrities like Michelle Williams and Sienna Miller. “My energy levels have always been extremely high and intense,” she says with a laugh. “I think that’s why my face always feels dry and hot.”

When it comes to beauty, Nguyen puts her skin first: moisturizer (by Ponds, which she’s been using since she was seven), mineral sunscreen by Lightsaver, and thermal spring water by Avène —“I have them in every size, in every bag,” she says of the sprays. Her morning ritual consists of running the Cassis perfume by Maison Louis Marie down her scalp and applying Everyday Oil to her arms and legs. At night, she wearsBaby Cheeks + Face Trace Sculpting Powder Duo in Tulle/Truffleand just a touch ofVital Skin Foundation in Atelier VI. “I notice an instant change,” she says of her essential routine, which she finishes with a swipe of just-bitten matte lipstick. “My face still looks like my face, but in photos, it's like there’s a filter on it.” Sounds just right for a girl in the spotlight.
